I have a problem that I am trying to solve. I need to create a workflow that can calculate an Net Operating Loss carry forward, per year, and the current year utilization of this amount (i.e we have taxable income in this year and need to subtract out the oldest year of NOL CF first and so on until either Taxable income is 0 or NOL CF is zero). This is also subject to a 3 year limitation to on the NOL carryforward amounts, meaning that 3 years after the NOL was generated it will expire and cannot be used.
The initial idea was to use a 3 year rolling formula with the multi-row function to separately calculate the NOL beginning of year CF amount and current year utilization per year. However, it appears that this will not incorporate the CY utilization into the beginning of year NOL CF amount. Are there any ideas on how to do this?
